Be Like the Ocean Diver

They say there's no time like the present. Why? I would say, because it represents our one and only real time. The past has passed and the future is uncertain. Yet, how many of us consciously live by this statement?  I know I don’t.

Certainly, I'm at fault for getting caught in my daily routine and sucked into thinking about the past or wondering about the future.  Unwillingly, where have I been taken to exactly? It would appear that everywhere but where I really want to be; my present.

So if there's no time like the present, why is it that we're hardly ever there?

Why is it that –nowadays- we choose to surrender our present to mere external distractions and furthermore welcome, embrace and accept this lifestyle as our reality, feeling empty without it?

Allow me to explain what I mean through the following example. Hopefully, this will help you analyze what being truly present is.

Last week I was fortunate enough to go open water diving in one of the most precious reefs the world offers: The Island of Cozumel, just outside Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

What I love most about this recreational and beautiful sport (besides the obvious fact that it is incredibly entertaining) is how quickly it puts things into perspective.

Being underwater leaves no room for error which –to me- is a tremendous opening to practice life’s fundamentals.  Listen to your body to gracefully move and control your breath, keep your mind under control in a peaceful state, watch for and deliver effective communication while paying attention to and being aware of your surroundings. These essential exercises naturally support you with staying present; bringing you in contact with your now and letting you focus on the moment.  During this hour you feel your existence.

What’s amazing is that to feel this way you had to leave your natural habitat and are now 65 feet under water.

So...do you feel you're truly present?

LOD = Lesson of the Day

On those days when you feel scattered, gone, confused, remember: Mimic the diver. Practice fundamentals and listen to you, internally. Doing this, will help bring you back to your essence and (if applied consistently) generate ongoing harmony within. The result: being and staying present.

I look forward to your comments. Keep learning, keep growing. I thank you for your time.

Introduction

Thanks to all who remembered me on my day. With your thoughts, your words, your actions you've made me feel incredibly special, and therefore loved. Now, I would like to share some thoughts and heart felt feelings with you, in hopes of contributing to your special journey in this walk we call Life.

To some, 37 might sound like a lot; to others, not much.  Independently of this, I can tell you what I've learned thus far.

Life is a blessing, so it is our duty to make it joyous every day. Life is a present so we must focus on now and commit to the moment. Life is Balance. In being so, it allows us to connect with our inner wisdom through: our Minds, our Hearts, our Physical bodies and our Energy.

A couple years ago, one of my most valuable mentors introduced me to the principle of CANI = Constant and Never Ending Improvement. I've chosen to be guided by this principle because: Life is opportunity.

Life is Attitude. Life is a Dance. Life is a Journey. Life is Time. Life is a Conquest. Life is Breath. Life is Movement. Life is a Story. Life is Contribution. Life is Gratitude. Life is Growth. And, Life is Precious.

By the way, which one of these is life, anyway?

Thanks for reading.  I invite you to follow my blog: The Mastery of CANI...masteringcani.blogspot.com

I will start posting a blog there once a week and look forward to generating conversations that will serve as guidance and add value to continuing to live a fulfilling Life.
